The Disability Community Resource Network Background
“Knowledge is a by-product of information gathered through resources and experience. The DCRN aspires to bring the Disability Community and the Government together across all jurisdictions in Manitoba with the goal of continuously bringing in new information and new members."

In 2000 Community Connections, the Independent Living Resource Centre (ILRC), and a number of other community based organizations collaborated to form the Disability Community Resource Network. Together these organizations began developing ideas for a Web site, which would allow members to pool resources making them more accessible to the general public.

In the fall of 2002, the DCRN committee grew, bringing in consumers and representatives from various service agencies. This network is now the driving force in creating a web site for the disability community.
In Keeping the Web site a grassroots project, content is based on consumer's needs/wants through the DCRN committee and focus groups. The DCRN is continually seeking out new information and creating new partnerships within the community. So far, the content of the Web site consists of a Calendar, Employment Resources, Organizations, and a Buy and Sell. There are also a number of links leading to Manitoba Community Connections, Industry Canada, CIMNet, and a listing of all the Community Connections access sites in Manitoba.
